my faith and my grandma

I refuse to live in someone else mindset prison
Won’t even allow you to put me in it
My mind stays free
My freedom is due me
It had been a long time coming
Spent a long time running
I refuse to live in your box
All nicely bubble wrapped
Insecurities
Jealousies
Talent untapped
You hate me
Why?
Because I am mentally free
I’m free to be me without apology
I am me
Not you
I make choices
I choose
To be a daughter of destiny
I will go where destiny leads me
Free
My grandma now gone
From that moment on
Her last words she told me
Chet be free
Be happy
Life is too short
Short as previews
The nightly news
I have to live this life through
Exploring my own horizons
Valleys low
Cities
And avenues
I have paid life’s dues
I paid my fees
To be mentally free
Hansel and Gretel
Followed the trail of my tears
Which were left from my pain
I turned the pain around
Now I am sustained
I am maneuvering
To get to the place in life
Where I need to be
I’m running towards destiny
My grandma said
Chet be happy
